Venice Film Festival - Day 8

So far this has been an interesting trip.... My journey into work this morning was spiced up with a bit of flooding.... kept the cameras high and dry and made this video. :)

Other cool things in the last couple days, I've actually managed to go to a couple film screenings (which is very unusual for me while working a festival!).
The first one I saw was Essential Killing..... Vincent Gallo stars... very cool movie... would definitely recommend. Theres been so many movies coming out about us troops in Afghanistan, and all these 'evil' Taliban people...... Essential Killing gives a refreshing different perspective without trying to make a huge political statement. just a good film.... go see it.

The film I watched in my photocall/premeire break today was Tsumentai Nattaigyo (which translates to 'Cold Fish').... Japanese horror film from cult director Shion Sono. based on a true story of Japanese serial killers.... its a story of two tropical fish shop owners who become friends and join forces until it surfaces that one of the men is not what he seems. it goes on--plot thickens--- and turns into one of the more disturbing films i have ever seen.....
Sexually violent... very gory... people regularly being dismembered...rape.. with a tad of twisted comedy thrown in too.
A guy sitting a row in front of me actually vomited.
This film just made me think back to the reading I did for my dissertation at LCF...... One essay in particular on 'Wound Culture'.... (cant remember who wrote it, but if anyone's interested shoot me an email and i'll try to find it.)
Anyways, cant say i'll be watching that movie again in a hurry.
